Media Accreditation for 14th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice to be held in Japan now open

Registration deadline extended until 24 February 2021 - registration necessary for online and limited in-person accreditation

VIENNA, 28 January (UN Information Service) - Media accreditation for the Fourteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Kyoto, Japan, from 7 to 12 March 2021 is now open.

The theme for the Fourteenth UN Crime Congress, which is hosted by the Government of Japan, will be: "Advancing crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law: towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."

Media representatives wishing to cover the conference must apply for accreditation in advance through the United Nations INDICO platform. Onsite registration at the Kyoto International Conference Centre will be not be possible. Criteria for media accreditation and information on the documents required are available on the UNIS website. The deadline for registration has been extended until 24 February 2021 due to technical difficulties.

The Fourteenth UN Crime Congress brings together the largest and most diverse gathering of policymakers and practitioners in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice, as well as individual experts from academia, representatives of intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, specialized agencies and other United Nations entities, and the media. The Fourteenth UN Crime Congress marks the sixty-fifth anniversary of United Nations congresses on crime prevention and criminal justice.

Media facilities, including a press centre and a press briefing room (with interpretation for English/Japanese) will be available for media representatives at the Kyoto International Conference Centre.
