Vienna International Centre (VIC)
UNIDO Boardroom CO4

The Swedish Government will present its new anti-drug strategy aimed at strengthening the Swedish commitment to the United Nations anti-drugs efforts. Campaigning against drugs is a priority issue for the Swedish development assistance in 2004. One of the most important changes in the strategy is that Swedish financial support for the work of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will now be aimed at supporting specific topics rather than geographical areas. The strategy is based on Sweden’s restrictive drug policy and on an evaluation done by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The presentation of the strategy will take place during the 47th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND).
