"Thank You for the Rain" - Ciné ONU Vienna screening to mark World Food Day

To mark World Food Day, Ciné ONU Vienna screened "Thank You for the Rain" on 15 October 2018 to highlight the negative impacts of climate change on farmers such as Kisilu in Kenya. The award-winning documentary by Julia Dahr drew praise from the three panellists: Sharon Lee Cowan, Head of Corporate Communication in Europe and Central Asia of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Petra Herout, Knowledge Manager and Sector Coordinator for Rural Development and Natural Resource Management at Horizont 3000, and Helga Kromp-Kolb, Professor Emeritus and former Head of the Centre for Global Change and Sustainability at the University of Natural Resources and Life Services Vienna.

Pushing for change, Kromp-Kolb appealed to the audience: "Feel the urgency! We must adapt to the change as things are worse than we thought; nature is reacting more drastically than we thought. But there is no ecological or economic reason to not achieve the 1.5 degrees. I really hope this time the message is heard and understood."
