ADA Kids Day at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna

Children join "ADA Kids Day" at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna to learn more about sustainable development

June 26, Vienna - More than 500 children between 10 and 15 years old joined the Austrian Development Agency's (ADA) Kids Day at the Diplomatic Academy Vienna to learn more about development cooperation and how to fight global inequality.

By attending different workshops as well as by visiting the various information stalls set up at the Diplomatic Academy'spremises, the young participants had the chance to talk to representatives from different international organizations such as Caritas Austria, Red Nose Doctors, ADA, and the UN Information Service (UNIS) Vienna.

At the UNIS information booth, the many interested young visitors learned more about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in a lively manner. They were eager to make their own SDG magnets or take part in a SDG-related quiz in which participants got the chance to win a free guided tour at the Vienna International Centre, home of the UN in Austria.

Apart from introducing the work of the UN to the children visiting the UN's information stall, UNIS also hosted a special SDG workshop. During the workshop, a group of around 30 pupils and their teachers expanded their understanding of the history of the UN, the Agenda 2030 and the challenges it is addressing such as climate change or extreme poverty. The participants engaged in a lively discussion on what their individual contribution to achieving global sustainable development could look like in practice, for instance by using less plastic and saving energy and water in their daily lives.
