Doha: equal access to justice helps promote equitable and inclusive economic development, UN officials tell
It is essential to strengthen the international community's efforts to promote the rule of law and human rights as enablers of sustainable development, General Assembly President Sam Kutesa and other high-level United Nations officials said at the UN Crime Congress, in Doha, Qatar, on Monday.

No lasting peace without human rights and rule of law
Speaking at the same high-level event at the Crime Congress the head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime ( UNODC)Yury Fedotov said that lasting peace and sustainable development cannot be fully realized without respect for human rights and the rule of law. In a statement issued today, Mr. Fedotov underscored the significance of the Doha Declaration adopted at the Congress. Read the statement here.
