"Aritsts for the Danube" initiative 30 November 1999 5 p.m. at the Vienna International Centre, Visitor Centre, Gate 1 Main Entrance to the VIC at U1 Station Kaisermühlen
The initiative "Artists for the Danube" has been established to raise funds for environmental actions in the Danube River Basin. Nature is an important source of inspiration for artists, and the main goal of "Artists for the Danube" is the protection and preservation of nature. The event will be opened by Mr. Teun Botterweg, Team Leader of the Danube PCU. Mr. Wolfgang Stalzer, President of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) will unveil the engraving and make a statement. The first contribution is an engraving called "Water Forces", by Karin Zambra. "Water Forces" is a multi-colour print in a limited edition of 500 which is to be sold in aid of the environment. The net financial profit will be dedicated to restoring and saving riverine wetlands of the Lower Morava-Dyje river region. At the launch a video on the Lower Morave-dyje region will be shown. An accompanying exhibtion of Ms. Zambra’s artwork will be open to the public until 16 December 1999.
