VIENNA, 18 December (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Jordan to the United Nations (Vienna), Muhyieddeen Sh. Touq, presented his credentials today to Pino Arlacchi, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Touq served as Director of UNWRA/UNESCO Department of Education. Between 1995 and 1996 Mr. Touq was a Minister of Administrative Development in Jordan. From 1992 until 1994 he served as Deputy Director of Education and Chief of Higher Education, Training & Technical Development at the UNRWA/UNESCO Department of Education. The previous year he was President of Philadelphia University in Jordan, and a year before that a Professor of Educational Psychology at Jordan University in Amman. Between 1984 and 1990 Mr. Touq was Dean of the College of Education at the United Arab Emirates University in Abu Dhabi. From 1981 until 1984 he served at the University of Jordan in Amman, first as Advisor to the President, and the last two years as Dean of Student Affairs.
Mr. Touq holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Purdue University in the United States of America. Mr. Touq is married with two children
