Millennium Summit to Be Webcast Live on United Nations Web Site
With More Than 150 Heads of State, Government Expected, |

NEW YORK, 1 September – The United Nations Millennium Summit, which takes place from 6 to 8 September at United Nations Headquarters in New York, will be webcast live on the United Nations Web site. The Summit, which will bring together more than 150 heads of State or Government to tackle global challenges, is expected to be the largest-ever gathering of world leaders. With plenary sessions scheduled to take place daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the webcast, using state of-the-art technology, will contribute to make the Summit a truly twenty-first century event, accessible from any part of the world having a connection to the Internet. This coverage is made possible by the Department of Public Information, in cooperation with MediaOnDemand.com, a service provider specializing in offering integrated Internet broadcast solutions. The coverage will also benefit from the on-line public relations support of DearAddy.com, a company specializing in on-line marketing. The live Webcast in the English and French languages will be featured on the United Nations Web site, at “http://www.un.org”, which will also make available the texts of statements in their original language, press releases, radio news programmes and photographs, along with background information regarding the Summit. A live webcam view from the United Nations building is also available. |
