NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF BAHRAIN
PRESENTS CREDENTIALS


VIENNA, 9 October (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations (Vienna), Saeed Mohammed Al-Faihani, presented his credentials on Tuesday to Pino Arlacchi, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Al-Faihani was Permanent Representative of the State of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva and Consul General of the State of the Bahrain to the Swiss Confederation. He served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bahrain from 1995. Between 1993 and 1995 he served as Consul in New York, and between 1988 and 1994 he was First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the State of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York. Before that Mr. Al-Faihani was Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of the State of Bahrain to the United Nations in Geneva from 1984 until 1988, and Vice-Consul at the Consulate General of the State of Bahrain in Geneva from 1985 until 1988.

Mr. Al-Faihani holds an M.A. degree in Political Science from Ohio University and a B.A. degree in Political Science from Concordia University.

He is married, with five children.
