SECURITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION 751 (1992) CONCERNING SITUATION IN SOMALIA ADOPTS NEW CONSOLIDATED GUIDELINES

NEW YORK, 20 July (UN Headquarters) -- Following the adoption on 19 June 2001 of Security Council resolution 1356 (2001), the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 751 (1992) concerning Somalia adopted on 20 July 2001 new consolidated guidelines for the conduct of its work.

The Committee will give consideration to and decide upon requests for exemptions to the measures imposed by paragraph 5 of resolution 733 (1992), as set out in paragraphs 2 and 3 of resolution 1356 (2001).

The new consolidated guidelines will be transmitted to all States and international organizations/agencies.
