SECRETARY-GENERAL’S GOOD OFFICES
ON CYPRUS


 The following statement was issued today by the Office of the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan:

There have been questions in the last few days about the Secretary-General's good offices on Cyprus and efforts to get the process back on track. I wish to announce in this regard that the Secretary-General will be meeting H.E. Mr. Rauf Denktash on 28 August in Salzburg. Shortly after that meeting, Mr. Alvaro de Soto, the Secretary-General's Special Adviser, plans to go to Cyprus for consultations with H. E. Mr. Glafcos Clerides and H.E. Mr. Rauf Denktash.
