NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GEORGIA
PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

VIENNA, 1 August (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations (Vienna), Giorgi Burduli, presented his credentials on Thursday to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Burduli served as Deputy and First Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia. From 1991 to 1992, he was Deputy Head of American and European Desk and Deputy Head of the Political Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before Mr. Burduli joined the Georgian Foreign Service, he was Fellow Researcher at the Institute of Information and Social Sciences at the Georgian Academy of Sciences and Researcher at the Tbilisi State University. Between 1974 and 1976, Mr. Burduli served as Interpreter at the Georgian Academy of Sciences.

Mr. Burduli holds a Ph.D. in International Relations and Foreign Policy and degrees from the Institute of World Economics and International Relations, USSR Academy of Sciences and Tbilisi State University, Faculty of West European Languages and Literature.
