UNITED NATIONS TO HOST CEREMONY IN NEW YORK, 15 August (UN Headquarters) -- On the morning of 11 September, the United Nations will host a solemn Ceremony of Remembrance to mark the first anniversary of the tragic events of 11 September 2001 in the United States. The ceremony will be open to all members of delegations and United Nations staff. The 45-minute ceremony will be held on the North Lawn. The Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly and a representative of the United States Mission will make remarks. The President of the Staff Committee will also be invited to speak. In addition, a selected number of staff members will be invited to share a reflection, remembrance or prayer. The event will be open for coverage by correspondents holding valid United Nations press credentials. United Nations Television will cover the event live.
