PRESIDENT OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL AND
CHAIRMAN OF MILITARY STAFF COMMITTEE IN SEPTEMBER

NEW YORK, 2 September (UN Headquarters) -- In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the President of the United Nations Security Council and Chairman of the Military Staff Committee for September:

Security Council

Stefan Tafrov, Permanent Representative of Bulgaria, succeeds John Negroponte, Permanent Representative of the United States, as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Lieutenant General Nikolay M. Uvarov (Russian Federation) succeeds Major General Daniel Bastien (France) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
