PRESS STATEMENT ON DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
BY SECURITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT

NEW YORK, 16 October (UN Headquarters) -- The following press statement by Security Council President Martin Belinga-Eboutou (Cameroon) was delivered on 15 October:

Council members heard a presentation by the Secretariat on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Council is very concerned about the deterioration of the situation in the eastern part of that country. The Council intends within the next few days to adopt a presidential statement on this question, which will include information on the main lines of action that it plans to advocate.
