SECRETARY-GENERAL NAMES LENA SUNDH (SWEDEN)
DEPUTY SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
NEW YORK, 19 April (UN Headquarters) -- The Secretary-General has appointed Lena Sundh of Sweden as his Deputy Special Representative for the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ms. Sundh has a distinguished career in the diplomatic service of her country where she has specialized in United Nations and African issues, and was Ambassador of Sweden to Angola from 1996 to 2000. She has most recently served as Director at the Department of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sweden.
Ms. Sundh will assume her functions before the end of this month.
