NAMING MINISTERS OF NEW GOVERNMENT OF
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
NEW YORK, 1 July (UN Headquarters) -- The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan:
The Secretary-General welcomes the announcement made last night (local time) by Democratic Republic of the Congo President Joseph Kabila, naming the Ministers of the new Government of National Unity. The Secretary-General looks forward to the inauguration of this transitional government as soon as possible. He calls on the Government of National Unity to seize this opportunity to work together to bring about peace and stability in the country.
