Press Statement on Côte dIvoire by Security Council President
NEW YORK, 4 November (UN Headquarters) -- Following is todays press statement on Côte dIvoire by Security Council President John Danforth (United States):
The Security Council listened to the briefing of the Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan, on the grave recent developments in Côte dIvoire.
The members expressed their deep concern and demanded that the ceasefire be fully respected.
The Security Council expects the rights and security of United Nations personnel and all foreigners in Côte dIvoire to be fully respected.
The Security Council is actively engaged and is reviewing these worrying recent developments and the overall situation in Côte dIvoire with a view to deciding on the action to be taken.
