Secretary-General Commends Work of OAS, Carter Center on Venezuelan Electoral Process
NEW YORK, 4 June (UN Headquarters) -- The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan:
The Secretary-General takes note of the National Electoral Council’s announcement of the preliminary results of the reparos (correction) process. In that regard, the Secretary-General commends the work carried out by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Carter Center, both of which have observed the entire process.
The Secretary-General urges all Venezuelans to cooperate constructively to ensure a peaceful electoral and constitutional solution to the country’s political impasse.
