New Permanent Representative of Mauritius Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 10 December (UN Information Service) The new Permanent Representative of Mauritius to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Shree Baboo Chekitan Servansing, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Servansing was serving as Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Regional Co-operation (2003-04).
Mr. Servansing has served in a variety of functions in the course of his professional career. These include as Minister Counsellor, Head of Multilateral Economic Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Co-operation (2001-03); Minister Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission, Mauritius Embassy, Brussels (200001); and as Acting Minister Counsellor, Mauritius Embassy, Brussels (1996 2000).
Mr. Servansing also served as First Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1992-96); Second Secretary Mauritius High Commission, New Delhi, India (1988-92); Second Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1988) and as Administrative Officer, Mahatma Gandhi Institute (1981-88).
Mr. Servansing completed his Masters in Sociological Studies at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom and received a Postgraduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and International Trade at the Australian National University. He is married and has two children.
