United Nations Secretary-General to Visit Austria

VIENNA, 1 April (UN Information Service) -- The United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, will arrive in Vienna today for a semi-annual meeting with the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB). The meeting will take place from 2 to 3 April at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) and in Baden.

The CEB meeting will also be attended by Louise Frechette, the Deputy Secretary-General, and brings together the heads of various international bodies, such as the World Health Organization, the World Bank, or the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

During the visit of the United Nations Secretary-General, Austrian Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner will host a dinner for the Secretary-General and other high-ranking UN officials of the CEB.

The Secretary-General will also meet the Crown Prince Abdullah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and attend a private viewing and reception at the Liechtenstein Museum, accompanied by Her Serene Highness Mrs. Maria-Pia Kothbar, Princess of Liechtenstein and Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Liechtenstein to the United Nations in Vienna.

Following his visit to Austria, the Secretary-General will travel to Moscow for an official visit to Russia.
