Italy Donates a “Ragazzi” Painting to the United Nations Office in Vienna

IENNA, 6 February (UN Information Service) -- The Italian Government donated a painting by a contemporary Italian artist, Davide Ragazzi, to the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV). The painting entitled “Luna - Terra” (2001) represents a journey into space. The artist used the “light box” technique consisting of paper and woodwork.

“Until now Italy was absent from the artistic scenery of the Vienna International Centre and I am happy to inaugurate with this painting the first of a series of Italian arts events at the United Nations Office in Vienna,” the Italian Ambassador Claudio Moreno said at the inauguration ceremony. He announced that the next donation would be a six-meter high glass sculpture by the Italian artist Mario Ceroli, who will also hold an exhibit at the Vienna International Centre (VIC).

Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General of UNOV, expressing his appreciation for this donation and the Italian contribution to the United Nations in general, saluted the work of Ambassador Moreno, who is just finishing his mandate in Vienna.
