Secretary-General Welcomes Agreement on Withdrawal of Syrian Troops
NEW YORK, 4 April (UN Headquarters) -- The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan:
The Secretary-General welcomes the agreement reached in Damascus yesterday between his Special Envoy, Terje Roed-Larsen, and the Government of Syria regarding the full and complete withdrawal by 30 April 2005 of Syrian troops, military assets and intelligence apparatuses, consistent with the requirements of Security Council resolution 1559 (2004).
