Secretary-General Warmly Welcomes Canadian Announcement of Substantial Military Support for Darfur
NEW YORK, 12 May (UN Headquarters) -- The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan:
The Secretary-General understands that Prime Minister Paul Martin of Canada is today announcing a substantial military support initiative to the African Union for Darfur. The Secretary-General warmly welcomes this, as an important contribution to helping deal with the crisis.
