New Permanent Representative of Slovakia Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 13 January (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Slovakia to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Juraj Macháč, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Macháč was serving as Director-General, Directorate of International Organizations and Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia in Bratislava, Slovakia (2002-04).

Mr. Macháč has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Slovakia in Bonn and Berlin, Germany (1998-2002); Desk Officer, Department for Western Europe and North America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia in Bratislava, Slovakia (1996-98); Second Secretary and Trade Attaché, Embassy of Slovakia in Vienna, Austria (1993-96) and Second Secretary and Trade Attaché, Embassy of Czechoslovakia in Vienna, Austria (1992).

Mr. Macháč completed his Masters Degree in Foreign Trade at the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia. He is married and has one child.
