New Permanent Representative of Portugal Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 16 March (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Portugal to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), António Luiz da Silva Sennfelt, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV.

Mr. Sennfelt has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador in Maputo, Mozambique (2002-04); Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy in London, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, (2001-02); Consul General in London, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (1999-2001); Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal, (1998-99); Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Portugal (1996-98); Counsellor at the Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal (1993-96); Director for Southern Africa, Department in Lisbon, Portugal (1993); at the Embassy of the Holy See as head of the Portuguese Delegation to the Mozambican Peace Negotiations (1992); First Secretary at the Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal (1990-1991); at the Permanent Mission of Portugal at the Military Negotiations in Vienna (CSCE) (1989-1990) and Second Secretary at the Embassy in Bonn, Germany (1982-1989).

Mr. Sennfelt graduated in German philology at the Classical University in Lisbon, Portugal.
