New Permanent Representative of Zimbabwe Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 22 March (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Zimbabwe to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Grace Tsitsi Mutandiro, presented her credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV.

Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Mutandiro was serving as the Divisional Head, Policy Research and Promotion, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2003-05).

Ms. Mutandiro has served in many capacities in the course of her career, including: at the Office of the President and Cabinet (1997-2003); as Secretary and Head of Administrative Secretariat, Presidential Land Review Committee (2003); as Director in the Office of the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet (2000-03); Deputy Director in the Office of the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet (1997-2000).

She has also served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Desk Officer in the departments of: Consular and Legal Affairs, Protocol, International Organizations, Non Aligned Movement as well as Africa and the Middle East (1983-1997).

Ms. Mutandiro’s diplomatic postings include: Counsellor and Head of Chancery, Embassy of Zimbabwe in Paris, France (1988-92) and as Counsellor, High Commission of Zimbabwe in Pretoria, South Africa (1994-97).

Ms. Mutandiro completed a Bachelor of Administration Degree in 1979 at the University of Rhodesia and a Bachelor of Law Degree in 2002 at the University of South Africa. She has two children.
