New Permanent Representative of International Centre for Migration Policy Development Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 7 April (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Observer of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) to the United Nations (Vienna), Gottfried Zürcher, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV.
ICMPD is an intergovernmental organization with an observer status in the United Nations General Assembly.
Mr. Zürcher has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Acting Director-General, ICMPD (2004); Deputy Director-General, ICMPD (2002-04); Vice Director, Swiss Federal Office for Refugees (1991-2002); Senior Legal Advisor for the Swiss Federal Office for Refugees (1984-91); Head of Swiss Asylum section (1981-84) and Migration Policy Officer for the Swiss Federal Office for Refugees (1979-81).
Mr. Zürcher graduated as an Attorney-in-law in 1981. He is married and has one child.
