New Permanent Representative of Cyprus Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 31 August (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the United Nations (Vienna), Kornelios S. Korneliou, presented his credentials today to Franz Baumann, Deputy Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Korneliou was serving as Deputy Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium (since 2000).
Mr. Korneliou has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as Director of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus (1998 - 2000). He has also served at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Nations (New York) (1995 - 97), the Embassy of Cyprus in Bonn, Germany (1990 - 95) and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus (1989 - 90).
Mr. Korneliou obtained his Master's degree in Political Science, Philosophy, American Culture and History at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. He is married and has one child.
