Memorial Ceremony for Tsunami Victims

As the death toll for the tsunami victims continues to rise, the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) is holding a memorial ceremony in tribute to the thousands of men, women, and children who have lost their lives in this tragedy. The ceremony will take place on:

Thursday, 13 January, at 12 noon

at the

Rotunda, Vienna International Centre

Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV and Executive Director, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will offer condolences to the disaster-struck countries. He will also provide a brief description of  responses under consideration by UNODC in support of regions and communities struck by this tragedy.

The Permanent Representative of Indonesia to UNOV, Thomas Sriwidja, will speak on behalf of the affected countries.

Permanent Representatives of the tsunami-affected countries represented in Vienna (India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Thailand) will also attend and be available to the press.
