New Permanent Representative of Portugal Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 9 March (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Portugal to the United Nations (Vienna), Vasco Bramão Ramos, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Bramão Ramos was serving as political, diplomatic, organizational and logistical coordinator for the Latin American Summit and the correspondent preparatory ministerial encounter (since April 2005).

Mr. Bramão Ramos has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as Ambassador in Caracas, Venezuela (2003-05), as Ambassador and Director General in the Foreign Office (2002-03), as Director General of the Information Service for Strategic and Military Defence (1999-2002), and Director General on the Multilateral Directorate in the Foreign Office (1998-99).

Mr. Bramão Ramos obtained his degree in Law at the University of Lisbon, Portugal.
