New Permanent Representative of Montenegro Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 27 July (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Montenegro to the United Nations (Vienna), Vesko Garčević, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Garčević was serving as Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and other international organizations in Vienna.

Mr. Garčević has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Head of Multilateral Department, both in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro (2002-04); European Regional Integrations Counsellor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002); and Third Secretary at the Yugoslav Embassy in Vienna (1993-98).

Mr. Garčević studied at Belgrade University and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.  He is married, with three children.
