New Permanent Representative of Namibia Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 6 September (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Namibia to the United Nations (Vienna), Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, presented her credentials today to Franz Baumann, Deputy Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Ashipala-Musavyi was serving as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Namibia to the United States (since 2005).

Ms. Ashipala-Musavyi has served in many capacities in the course of her career, including as: Under-Secretary and Head, Department of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Namibia (2003-04), Deputy Director and Head, Division of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001-02), Deputy Head of Delegation of Namibia to the United Nations Security Council (1999-2000), as well as Deputy Permanent Representative of Namibia to the United Nations, New York (1995-2000).

Ms. Ashipala-Musavyi studied at the University of Keele, United Kingdom, and obtained a Master's degree in Diplomatic Studies.
