New Permanent Representative of Ethiopia Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 27 September (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations (Vienna), Kongit Sinegiorgis, presented her credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Sinegiorgis was serving as Director-General for African Affairs and Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Union and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (since 2000).

Ms. Sinegiorgis has served in many capacities in the course of her career, including as: Ambassador of Ethiopia to Egypt (1996 - 2000), Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the Organization of African Unity in Addis Ababa (1995 - 96), Ambassador of Ethiopia to Israel (1993 - 95), Ambassador of Ethiopia to Canada and to Mexico (1992 - 93), and Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations (Geneva) and other International Organizations in Switzerland, and Ambassador of Ethiopia to Austria, as well as Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna (1990 - 92).

Ms. Sinegiorgis has participated in numerous international conferences and meetings at different capacities including as Head and Deputy Head of her country's delegations.
