New Permanent Representative of Panama Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 6 December (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations (Vienna), Isabel Damián Karekides, presented her credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Ms. Karekides has served in many capacities in the course of her career, including as: Director, Diplomatic Department, Director, European Department, Director, Latin-American Department and Director of Foreign Policies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama, as well as Adviser to the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Panama in Costa Rica and General Consul of Panama in Barcelona, Spain.
Ms. Karekides studied at the Universities of Panama and Barcelona. She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, a Bachelor's degree in Law and Political Science and a doctoral degree in International Law.
Ms. Karekides has three children.
