New Permanent Representative of Peru Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 18 December (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations (Vienna), Carlos Alberto Higueras Ramos, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Higueras Ramos was serving as Ambassador of Peru to Brazil (since 2002).

Mr. Higueras Ramos has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador of Peru to Uruguay (1999 - 2001), Ambassador of Peru to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka (1996 - 99), General Director of the Advisory Staff of the Vice Minister of International Economy (1996), as well as Advisor of the Vice Minister of International Policy (1995 -96).

Mr. Higueras Ramos studied at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and at the Diplomatic Academy of Peru. He holds a degree in Liberal Art and Law.     He is married and has four children.
