New Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 19 January (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations (Vienna), Dennis Francis, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Francis was serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Trinidad and Tobago to the Dominican Republic (since 2004).
Mr. Francis has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago to the International Seabed Authority (2000-04), High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica (1999-2000), Ambassador-Designate to Cuba, Dominican Republic and Haiti (1999), and Director, Division of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-99).
Mr. Francis holds a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.
