VIENNA, 9 March (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of the United Republic of Tanzania to the United Nations (Vienna), Matern Yakobo Christian Lumbanga, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Lumbanga was serving as Chief Secretary, President's Office, Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (1995 - 2006).
Mr. Lumbanga has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development (1992 - 95), Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Trade (1991 - 92), Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (1990 - 91), as well as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Natural Resources and Tourism (1989 - 90).
Mr. Lumbanga holds a degree in Economics, Management and Administration from the University College of Dar es Salaam. He is married and has five children.
