New Permanent Representative of Malta Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 16 May (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Malta to the United Nations (Vienna), Christopher Grima, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Grima was serving in various functions at the Embassy of Malta to Austria and Permanent Mission to International Organizations in Vienna, including Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Deputy Head of Mission and First Counsellor (since 2004).

Mr. Grima has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Deputy Permanent Representative/Deputy Head of Mission and Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Malta to the European Union (2000 - 04), Communications Co-ordinator, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malta (1998-2000), First Secretary, Multilateral Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malta (1995-98), and First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations, New York (1994-95).

Mr. Grima holds a Master's degree in Diplomatic Studies with Distinction from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom. He is married.
