New Permanent Representative of Egypt Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 16 October (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations (Vienna), Ehab Mohamed Mostafa Fawzy, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Fawzy was serving as Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for International Political Relations (since 2005).

Mr. Fawzy has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Egypt, Tunis (2003 - 05), Chief of Cabinet of the Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs (2001 - 03), Counsellor, Embassy of Egypt, Washington D.C. (1997 - 2001), First Secretary, Cabinet of the Minister for Foreign Affairs (1992 - 97), Rapporteur, Special Political Committee, United Nations General Assembly (1992), Rapporteur, United Nations Special Committee on Peacekeeping (1991), Second Secretary, Permanent Mission of Egypt to the United Nations, New York (1988 - 92).

Mr. Fawzy holds a Bachelor's degree in Dentistry from the Cairo University, Egypt and a degree from the Institute for Diplomatic Studies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt. He is married and has two children.
