United Nations Deputy Secretary-General to Visit Austria

VIENNA, 22 June (UN Information Service) -- The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr. Asha-Rose Migiro, will be on an official visit to Austria from 25-28 June 2007.

During the official visit, the Deputy Secretary-General will meet with the Austrian President of the National Council (Parliament), Barbara Prammer, and with the Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs, Ursula Plassnik.

During her visit to Vienna, the Deputy Secretary-General will attend the "7th Global Forum on Reinventing Government", which will be held in Vienna from 26-29 June, hosted by the United Nations, where she will make an opening statement on 26 June. The Deputy Secretary-General will also visit the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, where she will meet with the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, Antonio Maria Costa, heads of Vienna-based organizations, senior management and staff.

Dr. Asha-Rose Migiro of Tanzania took office as Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations on 1 February 2007. She is the third Deputy Secretary-General to be appointed since the post was established in 1997.
