UN Deputy-Secretary-General to Present UN Public Service Awards at 7th Global Forum on Reinventing Government

 VIENNA, 25 June 2007 (UN Information Service) -- United Nations Deputy-Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro will present 14 United Nations Public Service Awards to representatives of winning countries at the 7th Global Forum on Reinventing Government, which is being held in the Austria Centre Vienna, from 26-29 June.  Winners of this year's awards are: Austria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, Chile, India, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, and United Arab Emirates. High-ranking government officials, including ministers, from these countries will receive awards on behalf of their governments.

The United Nations Public Service Awards are the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. They reward the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions to a more effective and responsive public administration worldwide. The Award is an annual competition designed to promote the role, professionalism and visibility of public service.
