New Permanent Representative of India Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 8 February (UN Information Service) -- The New Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Saurabh Kumar, presented his credentials today to Franz Baumann, Acting Director-General, UNOV.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Kumar was serving as Ambassador of India to Ireland (since 2003).
Mr. Kumar has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador of India to Viet Nam (2000 - 03), Joint Secretary, Foreign Service Training Institute (1999 - 2000), Joint Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat (1995 - 98), Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Thimpu, Bhutan (1992 - 95), Deputy Chief of Mission, Permanent Mission of India to the IAEA, UNIDO and UNOV (1989 - 92), Director, UN Department, Ministry of External Affairs (1985 - 88), Member of the Indian delegation to the third special session of the UN General Assembly on disarmament (1988), Member of the Indian delegation at the UN Conference on the relationship between disarmament and development (1987) and Candidate, Fellow Programme Economics, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India (1981 - 84).
Mr. Kumar holds a degree in Physics from the University of Delhi.
He is married.
