New Permanent Representative of Italy Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 10 April (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations (Vienna), Gianni Ghisi, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Ghisi was serving as Diplomatic Counsellor, Ministry of Health, Rome, Italy (since 2007).
Mr. Ghisi has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Deputy Director-General for Development Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005 - 07), Coordinator for Africa and Middle East, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004 - 05), Consul General in Jerusalem, Head of the Mission to the Palestinian Authority and to UNRWA (1999 - 2004), Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of Italy, Budapest, Hungary (1995 - 99), Head of the Office for Multilateral Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1992 - 95), First Counsellor, Permanent Mission to the United Nations (Vienna), Austria (1989 - 92), Head of the Secretariat of the Inspector General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1985 - 88), Counsellor, Embassy of Italy, Lagos, Nigeria (1982 - 85) and Head of the Vice-Consulate, Locarno, Switzerland (1979 - 82).
Mr. Ghisi graduated in Political Science at the Bologna University, Italy.
He is married.
