New Permanent Representative of Mongolia Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 23 May (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations (Vienna), H.E. Mr. Jargalsaikhan Enkhsaikhan, presented his credentials today to Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Enkhsaikhan was serving as Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mongolia (since 2007), Member, President's Commission to Support Civil Society and NGOs (since 2006), Advisor, Mongolian Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (since 2005), Director, Disarmament NGO "Blue Banner", Mongolia (since 2005) and Member, International Steering Committee, International Civil Society Forum for Democracy (since 2003).
Mr. Enkhsaikhan has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Advisor and Lead Researcher, Institute for Strategic Studies, National Security Council, Mongolia (2007), Council Member, Global Environment Facility (1999 - 2006), Executive Director, Mongolian National Coalition for International Criminal Court (2004 - 06), Advisor, International Civil Society Forum for Democracy (2004 - 05), Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations (New York) (1996 - 2003), Executive Secretary, National Security Council, Mongolia (1993 - 96), Foreign Policy Advisor and Legal Advisor to the President, Mongolia (1992 - 93), Deputy Chief of Mission, Mongolian Embassy, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics/Russian Federation (1988 - 92), Acting Head, Policy Planning Department as well as Treaty and Legal Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mongolia (1986 - 88), Third, then Second Secretary, Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the United Nations (New York) (1979 - 86), Member, Mongolian-Soviet Border Demarcation Commission (1978 - 79) and Third, then Second Secretary, Treaty and Legal Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mongolia (1974 - 79).
Mr. Enkhsaikhan holds a doctoral degree in Law and a diploma in International Law from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations, Russian Federation.
He is married with 6 children.
