New Permanent Representative of Austria Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 1 July (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations (Vienna), H. E. Mr. Helmut Böck, presented his credentials today to Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Böck was serving as Head, Department for International Organizations, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Vienna, Austria (since 2005).
Mr. Böck has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Seoul (2001 - 05), Consul General, Hong Kong, China (1997 - 2001), Deputy Director, Department for International Organizations, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Vienna, Austria (1993 - 97), Counsellor and Chargé d'Affaires, Austrian Embassy, Warsaw, Poland (1991 - 93), Counsellor, Austrian Mission to the United Nations, New York, United States (1986 - 91) and Deputy Director, Austrian Cultural Institute, New York, United States (1985 - 86).
Mr. Böck holds a doctoral degree in Law and a translator's diploma for English and Spanish from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, a Master's degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, United Kingdom, and a certificate of Advanced European Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium.
He is married and has one child.
