New Permanent Representative of Guatemala Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 10 December (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the United Nations (Vienna), H. E. Ms. Carla María Rodríguez Mancia, presented her credentials today to Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Ms. Rodríguez Mancia is also serving as Ambassador to Austria, a post which she assumed in 2008.
Ms. Rodríguez Mancia has served in many capacities in the course of her career, among them: Ambassador to the Netherlands (2006-08), Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (2006-08), Alternate Governor of Guatemala to the Common Fund for Commodities (2006-08), Director-General for International, Multilateral and Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guatemala City (2003-06), Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva (1998-03), Deputy Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization (1997-98), Minister-Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the European Communities and Embassy of Guatemala to Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (1993-97), First Secretary and Consul, Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the European Communities and Embassy of Guatemala to Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (1990-93), and Programme Assistant, Guatemala's Desk, UNICEF Area Office for Central America (1985-89).
Ms. Rodríguez Mancia holds a degree in Political and Social Sciences from Rafael Landivar University, Guatemala City. She speaks Spanish, English and French.
Ms. Rodríguez Mancia has a son.
