New Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 6 March (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations (Vienna), H. E. Mr. Yerzhan Kh. Kazykhanov presented his credentials today to Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Mr. Kazykhanov is also serving as Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to other international organizations.
Mr. Kazykhanov has served in many capacities in the course of his career, among them: Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan (2008), Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs (2007-08), Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York, and Non-Resident Ambassador to Cuba (2003-07), Director, Department of Multilateral Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000-03), Secretary-General, National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO (2000-03), Counsellor, Permanent Mission to the United Nations, New York (1995-2000), Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1993-1995), and Second then First Secretary, Department of Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-93).
Mr. Kazykhanov holds a doctoral degree in history. He speaks Russian, English and Arabic.
Mr. Kazykhanov is married and has two children.
