New Permanent Representative of Japan Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 18 August (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations (Vienna), Takeshi Nakane, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Antonio Maria Costa.
Mr. Nakane has served in many capacities in the course of his career, among them: Envoy, Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary, Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna (2008-09), Deputy and Director-General, Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Foreign Policy Bureau (2005-08), Consul-General, Consulate-General of Japan in Munich (2000-02), Director, Overseas Establishments Division (1996-98), Director, International Press Division (1994-96), Director, Arms Control and Disarmament Division, Foreign Policy Bureau (1993-94), Director, Disarmament Division, United Nations Bureau (1992-93), Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Geneva (1987-92) and First Secretary, Embassy of Japan to the Federal Republic of Germany (1985-87).
Mr. Nakane holds a degree in Law from Kyoto University.
He is married with four children.
