New Permanent Representative of Ghana Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 14 December (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Ghana, Ellen Serwaa Nee-Whang, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Antonio Maria Costa.

Ms. Nee-Whang is also serving as Ambassador to Austria and Switzerland as well as Permanent Representative to the United Nations (Geneva).

Ms. Nee-Whang has served in many capacities in the course of her career, among them: Chief Director, Ministry of Foreign Affaires and Regional Integration (2006-08), Acting Chief Director, Ministry of Foreign Affaires (2006), High Commissioner to South Africa as well as to Lesotho, Mauritius, Seychelles and Swaziland (2000-05), Acting Director, Policy and Research Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-2000), Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland (1993-97), Desk Officer, Policy Planning and Research Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-93) and Counsellor and Head of Chancery, Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia (1985-89).

Ms. Nee-Whang holds a Diploma in International Relations and a Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Ghana, Legon.

She is widowed and has three children.
